Disregard the other review

This book has nothing to do with horror, unless you consider "fights" (for lack of a better way to describe it without going dirty) between a brother and sister. The actual tale revolves around a grandfather explaining how precious and fast time can be, and how it can get away if you are not careful. This is not Mr. King's strongest work, but it is a nice story. Save your money if you just want to read the tale, and get King's "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" short story collection with this story included.
The edition mentioned here is an oversized, slipcased, and decently designed book from Knopf books. This book was originally commissioned for the Whitney Museum in New York as a very overpriced coffee table book.

An "art" book not a coffee table book

This book is not an "over-priced coffee table" book or a horror story as mentioned in previous reviews.
This is a book co-created by an author and an artist. It is intended to be a work of art that combines textual and visual elements to present a viewer and reader with a message. Yes it is expensive, and anyone who sees the imaging and production value will get why. It is over-sized, well constructed, and gorgeous in a late '80s playing with graphics and text kind of way. Kruger's images are iconic and set a standard that many have followed ever since.
The story is not scary, it about a kid and his grandfather and a watch and not taking a single minute for granted. It is King's attempt at something more than pulp horror, and that is commendable. But the story is only half of the deal. Barbara Kruger's images are the other half.
Don't buy this if you "only want to read the story"--I agree. Buy this so you can own a fantastic piece of art history at a damn good price.

Despite having this story in a compilation, I felt the need to own this book, and I'm glad I purchased it. The story is very compelling in this format and the book is a wonderful decorative accent. It draws attention and the story has a moral worth discussing once read
