About the Author
The late Richard Hofstadter was DeWitt Clinton Professor of History at Columbia University. He was the author of many books and articles on American History and twice received the Pulitzer Prize: in History in 1956, and in general nonfiction in 1964.
Hofstadter has taught at Brooklyn College and the Institute for United States Studies at the University of London, and was on the staff of the Social Science Research Council. She lives in Bridgewater, Connecticut.

I ALWAYS learn a great deal for Hoftstadter - and this GREAT read is just ANOTHER EXAMPLE of History written by a great Historian !!!!
